May is National Stop The Bleed Month.

Everyone can be a hero, all it takes is awareness and a little bit of training – Join us on May 17th at 3pm EST to learn how YOU can be part of the solution in saving a life and preventing a tragedy before it happens!

 

This special event will include guest speakers with different roles and experiences with bleed kits to help EDUCATE, EQUIP, and EMPOWER you to Choose Love and help Stop The Bleed. Through this event, you will learn how to practice the Choose Love formula to save lives.

    Bishop Desmond Jaddoo

    Bishop Desmond Jaddoo is a Minister; a Campaigner for Equality and Social Justice. Desmond is also the Director of Yes2Life. He focuses also on community violence in terms of strategies in dealing with the growing epidemic of gun and knife crime with a focus on having a joined up interactive approach in dealing with this major destructful issue that impacts on communities.
    He has been developing weapon surrender bins, education programs in schools, faith input and bleed control, which includes kits and community training. He sees that it is everyone’s responsibility to their part in saving lives and that is the main ethos of his work.

    Head of Service of Contextual Safeguarding, Birmingham Children’s Trust

    Clair is the Head of Service Exploitation and Missing Hub based at Birmingham Children’s Trust. She has 19 years of experience in both adult and children social work. Clair is a specialist in child protection, domestic abuse, exploitation, gangs, and Serious Youth Violence, as well as being a licensed facilitator and educator with excellent leadership abilities. Her mission is to inspire others into positive change.

    Elaina has been engaging with young people for more than 40 years. She is a former journalist.
    Elaina was a founding member of the Prince’s Trust and was one of the first people to recognize how sport can steer young people away from violence encouraging Premiership football clubs to partner with multi-national corporations in community projects.
    Twenty years ago she took part in a fact finding mission to Red Hook New York and the visit changed the way she perceived gang culture and how young people could be steered away from street violence with a different approach.
    Elaina first became aware of the importance of bleed control training through her colleague Majid Khan.
    As a trained zero responder she supports the work of Majid and Bishop Des Jadoo.

    Operation Rimush was a recent police operation which Nick was working on and it was to target knife crime and the police took a lot of knives off the streets.

    Jag is a West Midlands based consultant trainer and security specialist with over 30 years of experience both in the classroom and the field.
    Risk management knife crime and most specifically Bleed control are subjects he is passionate about having witnessed first hand the damage and pain that can be caused in communities . Jag has been proactively delivering Bleed control workshops and talks to a wide range of participants and is strong advocate of the need for trained Zero responders.

    Matt Eccles has held senior roles in the British Government and the private sector in a communications career that spans over 30 years. He joined TyTek Medical in 2015 to market their range of single use, pre-hospital trauma equipment. The products were engineered for the battlefield, but increasingly civilians are receiving military style wounds, as a result of deliberate attacks or bad accidents. Matt led the campaign effort that adjusted the company’s focus to ensure that bystanders could be educated, equipped and empowered to treat a catastrophic bleed. He also runs the UK/Europe operation.

    Founder of Salvas Learning Ltd; Co-developer of RunHideSurvive™

    Michael is the founder of Salvas Learning Ltd, a leading learning and consultancy company based in Scotland.

    He’s also the co-developer of RunHideSurvive™ – the package of training and catastrophic bleed control equipment for terror-attack survival that won Commendation in the 2018 Counter-Terror Business Awards. The #ZeroResponder bleed control kit and workshops form part of this life saving program.

    Since 2010 he’s been working with clients from the public, private and third sectors, advising, training, mentoring and supporting them to deal with work-related violence, manage conflict situations, and respond to high-threat incidents like terrorist and criminal assaults involving life threatening bleeding.

    In the 30-year police career leading up to that work, Michael dealt with terrorist and criminal attacks, explosive-device situations, and joint operations with the military and other agencies.

    As part of the Strathclyde Police first-aid training team, he completed the UK military Battlefield Advanced Trauma Life Support (BATLS) program and is a also qualified FREC3 First Responder in Emergency Care.

    Michael’s research interest in violence reduction took him on a Churchill University Fellowship study tour in the United States, working with top experts and law-enforcement agencies there. He went on to be one of the architects of an award-winning officer safety training program created by Strathclyde Police with the Metropolitan Police Service.
    He rounded off his policing years seconded to East Renfrewshire Council as part of the National Violence Reduction Unit. This was a pioneering post that put Michael at the heart of teaching, learning and working with adults and young people. During his tenure he instigated an emergency life support training program for high school students.

    He has a passion for training clients from all walks of life in personal safety at work; workplace violence reduction; conflict resolution; physical interventions skills; terrorist-attack survival and bleed control skills.

    Founder of the Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement

    Scarlett Lewis founded the nonprofit Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement after her son was murdered during the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy in December 2012. After his death, Scarlett became part of the solution to the issues that we’re seeing in our society—and that also caused the tragedy. She created the Movement and became an advocate for social and emotional learning (SEL) and character development that teaches children how to manage their emotions, feel connected, and have healthy relationships. Speaking across the US and internationally to diverse audiences, Scarlett urges everyone to become part of the solution.

    Scarlett created the Choose Love for Schools Program, a no-cost, comprehensive, lifespan, next generation SEL and character development program that teaches children and adults how to thoughtfully respond with love in any situation, handle adversity, and have courageous conversations by using the Choose Love Formula of: Courage + Gratitude + Forgiveness + Compassion-in-Action = Choosing Love. Choose Love has been extended into homes, communities, athletics, and the workplace. The programs have been accessed in all 50 states and 100 countries, reaching more than 1.9 million children.
