What is the Choose Love curriculum?

The Choose Love curriculum is a character, social and emotional learning program designed to teach children and adults important life skills such as courage, gratitude, forgiveness, and compassion.

There are programs for schools, homes, sports, communities, caregivers and correctional facilities.

Key Components of the Choose Love Curriculum:

  1. Courage: Encouraging students to face challenges and stand up for what is right, even when it’s difficult.
  2. Gratitude: Teaching students to appreciate what they have and to express thankfulness.
  3. Forgiveness: Helping students to understand and practice forgiveness as a way to release anger and find peace.
  4. Compassion in Action: Moving beyond empathy to taking positive action to help others.

Objectives:

  • Emotional Resilience: Equipping students with the skills to manage their emotions and cope with stress.
  • Healthy Relationships: Fostering positive, respectful interactions with others.
  • Conflict Resolution: Teaching strategies to resolve conflicts peacefully.
  • Community Building: Encouraging a sense of belonging and responsibility within the school and broader community.

Implementation:

The curriculum is flexible and can be integrated into existing programs. It includes lessons, activities, and resources for different age groups, from early childhood through high school, as well as adults. It’s often used in classrooms, but it can also be adapted for use in homes and community settings.

The Choose Love curriculum aims to create safer, more connected, and more compassionate school environments by addressing the emotional and social needs of students.
