‘Choose Love Movement’ comes to SWSC
On Dec. 26, 2012, residents of Sullivan gathered to honor the families of the victims — 20 students and six educators — who lost their lives in the tragic Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting on Dec. 14.
Southwest School Corp. is once again paying respect to one of the victims and his family by enforcing the “Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement.”
On Friday, SWSC students in grades four through 12 had the opportunity to listen to Scarlett Lewis speak about the movement. Lewis founded this movement following the murder of her six-year-old son Jesse in the Sandy Hook shooting, making it her life’s purpose to educate as many people as possible about social-emotional learning.
“I knew that what happened to him was 100% preventable and I knew that I would have to spend the rest of my life being part of the solution, of course, to prevent other parents from having to suffer the way that I had,” Lewis said.
