Welcome to our final week of Choose Love Awareness Month! This week’s theme is Compassion-in-Action. All month long we’ve been talking about the power of the ripple effect.
Every thought, word and action we put out into the world creates a ripple either positive or negative. We get to choose which kind of ripple we want to send. It takes courage to pause, and Choose Love especially when things are tough. Gratitude helps us start positive ripples even when life feels hard. Forgiveness stops a hurtful ripple from continuing. Now we’re adding the final piece Compassion-in-Action.
What is Compassion-in-Action?
Compassion is when you see a need either in yourself or someone else, and then take action to help.
Here’s the cool part when we help others, we also help ourselves! It makes us feel good about who we are. It builds our confidence and strengthens our hearts. That’s the ripple effect of Compassion-in-Action.
In science there’s something called reflection, when a ripple in water bounces back after hitting something. Acts of kindness work the same way. When you do something kind, that kindness reflects back to you and it keeps rippling outward to others. That’s the power of love and science working together.
Why does compassion matter when we live in a world full of busyness, distraction, and even pain? Even if we’re feeling okay, someone else might be struggling. That’s where we come in, we are here to help, to notice, and to care. When we do, we don’t just make the world better, we make ourselves better too. Science proves this but honestly we already know how good it feels to help someone else. It lifts our hearts, and reminds us of something really important; we’re all connected.
Here’s the final ripple challenge. Even though Choose Love Awareness Month is ending, our ripples never stop. You are so powerful, and every single action you take creates a ripple that spreads further than you can imagine.
Your challenge? Keep the Ripple of Love going. Choose courage, gratitude, forgiveness, and compassion every day because when you do, you heal others and that healing feeling comes back to you.
I appreciate you. I love you. You are seen. You are valued, and you are so important. I’m sending a ripple of love to you right now. Now go send it to someone else.
